Stephanie Mohan Creative Portraiture

My love for photography began in childhood. I remember watching in awe as my dad set up a darkroom in a closet, where images magically appeared in a tray of chemicals. That early experience sparked a lifelong fascination with capturing moments. I started with film but eventually transitioned to digital photography, embracing both the artistry and technology of the craft.

I earned a degree in photojournalism from San Francisco State University, which gave me the versatility to photograph everything from protests in the streets of San Francisco to intimate family sessions in nature or the studio. I love the challenge of switching between different styles and settings, ensuring that each image tells a compelling story. One of my favorite types of photography is headshots—I enjoy working one-on-one with individuals to create portraits that authentically and flatteringly represent them.

In 2000, I opened my portrait studio, Creative Portraiture, in the heart of downtown Fairfax, CA. Over the years, I have had the privilege of photographing a wide range of subjects, including families, children, small intimate weddings, local businesses, events, school portraits, and senior portraits. I also specialize in pet portraiture, capturing the unique personalities of beloved furry companions.

Whether I’m working in the studio, on location, or at a live event, my goal is always the same—to create images that feel genuine, timeless, and full of life. Photography is more than just a profession for me; it’s a way to connect with people, tell their stories, and preserve memories in a meaningful way.

I’m grateful to do what I love every day and to be part of a community that values creativity, connection, and the power of a great photograph.
